Angry windows movie maker = confusion

I have recently use windows movie maker to make a movie for school, and when i save it i save it to the desktop, though when i move it to a folder (on the desktop) and open it it comes up with all those X's
where the videos are ment to be, this occurs when i move it to a USB or email it to somebody.
It is frusteration because i have had to start again and again.
I know this has something to do with some setting.
How do i stop it from happening, and will the same thing happen if i try to burn the movie?

if i know what your problem its your paths to the clips. could you explain a little more please.

ok, once you have capture the whole movie and edited and saved it. in the folder with the movie. there should be the clips and the project file. (the project file is the one that you click to open)

if you wanted to send the project in an email you would have to send the folder and the clips. a couple of questins.

What size is the whole project?

have you exported the movie?

Are you saving it as a project?
Try File>Save Movie File
