make desktop suspend like a laptop

when i suspend my laptop the montor goes off as well as the hdd and fans and it gets out of it by a single button push.

with the pc when i suspend the entire thing goes off. suspend works is just that i have to push the power button instead of any buttons. kind of annoying.

electric bill is over 200 last month trying to save some dough

i got it working but i dont see the reason to do it on a desktop unless i'm using the wrong suspend mode and acpi feature. it only suspends the monitor video card and hardrive. the psu is still running. if i recall the laptop psu goes off during suspend.
