Default ethernet help

How do I determine what is wrong with an ethernet controller? Does it require drivers? Can I download them if so?

usually it does require drivers... and yes, as long as you know manufacturer/model you can usually just go to the manufacturer's website to download them...

you could always check your Device Manager to see if any error messages came up to say that some component wasn't working properly... if you need help with that, just ask...

generic drivers works find if it shows up on the network connections. you can also try those loop plugs to test if it is getting signals.
