Default MY turn to vent - Idiot drunks!

So there I was last night at an Irish Pub listening to some good live music (my friend Tony's older brother is one of the guitarists and writes most of the music...) I was sitting outside with my friends getting absolutely sh*tfaced drunk... finally a pool table was open, got some quarters and was about to play pool with a few other friends...

I feel what I thought was my phone ringing... no phone call.. what the hell could it be? .. I reach into my left pocket and my car alarm (yes my alarm vibrates) is vibrating and so I walk outside. Two trunks turn the corner and stop towards my car... I start walking to where I parked and I see this car with a giant white line across the right side from about midway on the passenger side door all the way to the right tail light. Part of the light cover is on the ground and a piece of the right bumper is hanging off the back right of the car.

I then realize that it is my car.

The guy in this big ass truck with this a gigantic steel front grille bar asks me if it is my car... I tell him yes and he says something I do not even remember. He parks and all of his friends get out and start telling me how he is a mechanic and can fix it easy.. no sweat.. no need to talk to the insurance companies...

We exchange information, driver license number, license plate number, phone number... This idiot turned 21 A WEEK AGO... and he tells me this is not the first time his front grille bar has hit another car... (I think he meant to say that this is not the first time HE has hit another car....) So whatever... my friends finally come outside because they probably noticed I had disappeared. One of my friends is an auto insurance claim estimator (he looks at pictures of car accidents and estimates the damage of the cars..) so we ask for his expertise.. $2,500 (USD)... no $3,000.. no $3,500... ..oh shit the door as well.. ~$5000 ..7 hours labor on the quarter panel, 4 hours on the bumper, 6 hours on door, an hour on the light... plus parts...

So I make the joke something like "Nice Bob, your job came in handy, my job sure as hell doesn't come in handy in a situation like this..."

so we exchanged insurance information, I went back inside, finished my Coors Light said goodbye to a few friends and went to Albertos, got five rolled tacos with extra guacamole and a carne asada quesadilla...

what a great way to start thanksgiving!

I knew my handy car alarm would FINALLY be worth what I paid (I know the idiot would have left if I did not come out side...)

Yup! Clifford Matrix alarm.. Its pretty cool! Like I said, it is the only reason he stopped.. I was a good 100 yards away and my remote still instantly told me some idiot ran into or was trying to break into my car...

Just out of curiosity, how much did it cost, and did you install it or have it professionally installed?

If I were in your shoes...I would let the guy fix my car. I would call his insurance company and have it done professionally, or at least make sure both insurance companies are okay with him doing it. Because if he does something wrong with your car, etc, the insurance companies may just tell you too bad it's your fault for not telling them in the first place.
