Hey guys,

You might remember a few months back (7 or 8) i brought tons of parts for a new computer which i put together and i was hoping to have it ready for when Vista comes. That was just over half a year ago and ive been running XP on it. Last week from eBuyer i purchased the MCE + Vista upgrade coupon thingy which i havn't installed yet.

On the form you get in the MCE thingy aka the redemption form it says when sending the redemption form back to Microsoft you need to send a receipt showing you have purchased a computer with MCE preinstalled between Oct06-March07. Now obviously in my case that wont go as i made my own computer a few months back. (I wasnt aware of this when purchasing MCE from eBuyer as it didnt say anything about needing to buy another PC).

So getting all excited and opening the seal on the MCE box thingy to get to the CD and Vista upgrade form to read the thing and finding out i need a new PC, i just sent eBuyer a enote to ask wtf is going on. eBuyer tell me i shouldn't have any problems and just send the redemption form :| but it clearly states on the form to send a PC receipt.

So then i contacted Microsoft who say:

"Thank you for contacting the Upgrade Redemption Support Centre..

To validate your order we need a proof of purchase.
Please contact your retailer and ask for a receipt otherwise we won't be
able to validate your order."

Ok well ima have to contact ebuyer to send me a receipt from a few months back with all the parts i brought for my comp. I dont see eBuyer letting me send back MCE now either as the seal is open (wouldnt of been open if i knew i needed to buy a computer before hand).

On some sites people are saying they have no problem and just to send the receipts from ages ago and other forums are confused. Does anyone actually know what i should do? Im so confused lol
