I would be tempted to be happy for you if you first considered all the people on this board you owe money and trades to.

Are you just trying to beat my computer spec wise?

I thought you had to sell all your parts to get money for something...

EDIT: Also, a C2D would smoke that Opteron.

care to name "all the people"?

if you want i'll still send you the 3 peices of the 1GHz P3

last time I checked, im not in any debt now? if Bebopin wasn't satisfied with the trade, he should speak up, if he wants something else, then i'll send him something else

I started a trade with someone else, they received the items faulty (USPS store was out of stock of boxes and such, so I had to hope for the best when I shipped it out. I'm awaiting him sending the items back and I will replace them and pack them properly in my own box this time instead of trusting USPS's stuff..

now, any more problems you want to address?

If you dont have money to afford a C2D and DDR2, dont spend $700 on a GPU, just buy the 8800GTS or X1950

You will not reach the potential of the GTX with anything less then a Core 2 Duo. They are CPU-bottlenecking with the G80 series. So, by that account you have wasted your money in a sense, when you could have gotten better components otherwise. Then again, with 1GB that is currently going to be your system's bottleneck above and beyond the processor.

Otherwise, great choice on the Xclio PSU.

Also, with the E6600 I would recommend going for something other then a (by all means) budget board. The DS3 is a budget board that does well with the E6300/E6400. With the higher multiplier, you really should be looking at boards that cost ~170 and up, or 975x boards.

C2D E6300 - 180
Gigabyte DS3 - 150
2GB DDR2 800Mhz ram that will overclock - ~250 bucks
Or you can get this DDR2 1000Mhz Ballistix for 300 and 35 MIR Linky

Overclock the E6300 up to ~3Ghz easily with little if any vcore bump, maybe a MCH bump - but that should give you enough computer to take advantage of the GTX. You can sell that board and recoup some cost, as well as return the CPU you just bought and take the restocking fee. And/or return the motherboar for her computer, and just transfer yours over to hers, let her have the DFI.

After this, you'd have a C2D running 3Ghz+ with DDR2 ram running at or above 1000Mhz and a GTX producing mad frame rates pounding through your P965 chipset-clad DS3.

Either way, keep the GTX even if you don't want to go C2D. Eventually you'll either sell that graphics card (and the GTX will hold more value) or you'll upgrade your CPU later on and then you'll at least have more power. But for now, you're going to bottleneck on that 1GB of ram and that relatively weak cpu. I say relatively weak, in comparison to the GTX. Anything but a C2D and FX62 look weak next to it, though.
