Default Friend passed away, need to get to computer

Hey guys, recently my close friend has passed away and his mother would like to get on his computer, but it is password protected and they can't figure it out. I dont know if you guys can help, but is there any way to access it other than just guessing the password? I understand if you guys can, but if so let me know, thanks.

First, sorry for your loss. I hope you are okay...

Second, it isn't against forum rules...it's against forum rules if he were trying to hack his friends computer.

I assume the computer is running windows xp? If so, then boot up into safe mode (press and hold F8 key while booting up) and see if there is an "administrator" account that is not password protected.

People only seem to read the first and last post in threads.

How does that confuse you? If you died right now, you don't think your parents would want to go on your computer, so they could use it, and/or look through your files (remember, you're dead )
