Problems with my 5.1 system

Hi,
I have bought a 5.1 systm with 6*chinch input. But my soundcard has only 3* 3,5 Klinke. So I have bought three 3,5Klinke to 2*chinch adapters. But it doesn't work. There is Sound, but only on my front-speakers. But as I connected my old subwoofer witch 3.5 klinke there was Sound. Kind of mistery, isnt it? Can anyone help me?
