Default Laptop Cooling

I have a HP Pavillion dv9000z and it gets so hot after a while. What are some good cooling options? I was looking at laptop cooling mats on newegg, but I'm not sure which ones are good, especially for a 17". The main exhaust is the back left corner, any recommendations?
