Default good soundcard

i am currently looking for a good quality and performance sound card that someome has had a good experience with. if it makes a differnece, i play games and do listen to music all the time. i dont think that it does, but just in case. thanks.

I have an Audigy 2 ZS, had it for about 4 months now, bought it used off of a friend that had it for a year and a half before that. Excellent card, no defects, crashes, nothing. Much better than the Santa Cruz by Turtle Beach that I had before that... BTW, you can get one of the Audigy 2's for about $50 - $75 USD...

I just bought the cheapo audigy se and I'm more than happy with that..it has eax hd 4.0 5.1 6.1 7.1 sound and it was only $30 only thing it doesn't have dolby processing.

X-Fi is one of the best gaming cards, it supports up to EAX 5.0, some has X-RAM, and the CMSS-3D feature is astounding with headphones, along with the 24-bit crystallizer.
