Default hdd problems

Hi i have a seagate ide 120gb hdd it has two partitions on it and i want to merge them but partition magic says the drive is bad so i dont know what to do, i have run a disk check on it and that found no problems, i went into disk manage and it has the 3.7gb partition in front of the 108gb partition the 108 partition contains windows.
i am doing all this form a external enclose
