Default Saving my files

My old computer which was running Windows 95 recently packed up and died. I am getting a new computer soon which will be on Windows XP. I was wondering whether if i just plug the old drive in the new computer will i keep all my files or will i lose them all. If i will lose them do you have any ideas as to how i could save them.
