Windows installer problem
Yesterday I went to install some Windows updates, and it said the files were not able to be installed. I kind of ignored that, but later on I went to install a CD Rom game and it said "Windows Installer Service could not be accessed..This could happen if you are in safe mode or if the files are not correctly installed. Contact support personnel." I went to microsoft and downloaded a "installer repair tool" but I can't install it for the same reason!
I downloaded the installer from microsoft, but when I went to open it, it said "service already in use" or something like that. I found the folder where the msiexec.exec file is installed, but when I click on that, it gives me a bunch of parameters/options to type in (I guess in DOS?) to uninstall, repair, etc. This is kind of scary for me...not sure what to do.
The current installer is 3.01. I have Windows 2000.
