Default Computer Theater system

okay....well I just now blew my sub on my Z-5500s so thats sucks but life goes on (somehow when things break, i hardly get mad, a few choice obscenities and im okay). Right now as a temporary measurement i grabbed an old sub out of the closet, cut the wire from the Z5500 sub and hooked it into the other sub and....well it doesn't sound as good but it works. Anyways...

Here is my problem....
I'm think about one of 3 things.....

1. I want to just replace the Z-5500s with another set

2. I'll buy the Creative Gigaworks 7.1 S750

3. I want to custom build a theater system for my comp (amp and all) (mostly because I've always wanted to hear what 1000+ watts sounded like on a computer)

Now for the questions....

1. Is an extra 200 watts worth $150 more? (cheapest price diff i could find between Z5500 and S750)

2. Do the S750s sound much better (well being made by Creative and an extra 200 watts, this is prolly obvious but is the difference noticeable?)

3. If I make my own, is it possible to do true 5.1 (or 7.1 if i feel like it) sound?

4. If I make my own, is it going to be more than $300-$400?

5. Your opinion on what I should get....

I know that 1,500 watts sounds good on a computer. the computer at my church runs through a soundboard and then to the speakers and out comes 1.5 kilowatts of sound. It's awesome!

In all my experiences with Creative speakers, I have never found one set that sound half decent. I would look into alternatives. You're probably better off to stick with the Logitech brand.

As for power, I have heard a computer through 50,000 watts of power. Racks of Carver amplifiers. Let me tell you, your pant legs vibrate. It's unbelievable.

What sound card do you have? It's no use buying an expensive setup if you have onboard audio.

I will be getting about $2k-$3k and I'm using most of it for a really awesome computer and I plan on getting the Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Platinum 7.1 so it will be more than enough.

Well I just spoke with my friend (he knows more about speakers than I do) and he said that I should just go a get a new 10" sub at best buy or somewhere and replace the logitech with a new sub.

The Logitech sub was being pushed by 188 Watts RMS, if I replace it with a 250 watt RMS subwoofer, would the amp be too weak to push that or should it be fine? I think it would be fine but I'm not sure.

It will work fine, but won't sound as good since it is underpowered.

you might have to buy separate amps for each channel
