I'd pop the xtra $150 ($130 after MIR) and get the 8800GTS. It's new tech. The ATI card is being replaced in Jan anyway. If you're building a new computer and dropping the $$ now I'd get the card that supports DX10. Just my thoughts. I'd say you will be happier then trying to sell an "old DX9" card later to pay for a new DX10 card.

Your motherboard and memory are not compatible with your processor

You need DDR2 memory and a Socket 775 motherboard to go with your Intel E6300.

I'd go with the 8800GTS like Grey said, but only if you can afford getting 2GB of RAM. DVD Burner is fine, but maybe you'd want a retail box so you get burning software? Just an idea. The case is pretty good, I'd say. Nice specs on hard drive, but do you want higher capacity (250-320GB is the best value currently)? The power supply looks okay, but get a recommendation from someone else as well.

As for a motherboard, I recommend this one:

Memory, possibly this?

Try to get DDR2 800, but if that's not possible, get DDR2 667.

I looked at both of ur recommendations and they have very bad reviews, not to say poor equipment just dont see why people dont like it. And I will get 2gig memory later, going for 1 atm. Also should I be looking into better manuf? GIGABYTE seems to have bad reviews everywere....?

I'm sorry to hear you "hate" Geforce cards. Because it's a FACT that the 8800 series cards are currently the BEST out. So I guess I'd put aside my baseless "hate" and get the best performing card out. Oh they are also the only cards that support DX10. Just a thought.

I also agree with Jet. Your main concern atm should be getting AT LEAST 2GB ram. It's the new standard and will help you the most with performance. Trust me you will notice the extra 1GB of ram. With Vista coming you will want it even more.

You need a Socket 775 motherboard. I'd get the Gigabyte DS3 or the EVGA 680i SLI if you want to drop the extra $120 on it.

The motherboard doesn't have bad reviews, and sorry, I did not check the memory, it was just a random pick. Normally I chose Corsair XMS2 memory, but for some reason this time I didn't.

Also, no point in getting a $300 video card and having 1GB of RAM. Either go with the 8800GTS and stick with 1GB, or (the better option would be to) go with 2GB and get the 7900GS.

I would watch out for the PSU because, previously, I have read a lot of burn-outs with other CoolerMasters within the first year and there isn't enough time/reviews to determine quality.

After-though edit: I though DDR2 mobos were backwards compatible with DDR RAM, no?

Ok, i can understand that 2gig is important so thats what i will go with. Also I know that geforce has come out with the best card atm, BUT they have always sucked for me in the past and ur both speaking of top of the line cards.

I am looking for most bang for my buck and when u get past top end cards ATI seems to kick its but imo (i may be wrong). If I have an option I would rather go with ATI but if you all say geforce i will trust your opinion.

For the time being could you please give me a recommendation on the motherboard and memory u guys would suggest. I have had a bad record with items that are not name brand, so please try suggest top choice.
