My favorite for gaming pads has always been the func pad, I haven't used mine in a while as I moved to the supermat but I never found a pad I liked as much as my fUnc 1030. It's very flat and has a slick side(very slick) and a smoother side that I usually used. It's a pretty decent size and doesn't slide around. Teflon tape on the mouse feet coupled with the smoother side is pretty incredible, lots of control without any movement resistance.
