Default Installation Problem

I recently purchased Microsoft Flight Simulator X Deluxe version, but it won't install on my computer.
When I double click on the setup.exe, it says that "D:\Setup.exe is not a valid Win32 application."
So I tried installing it in the Add/Remove Programs, but again, same error message.
I installed the updated version of ISSScript (provided on the DVD), but also to no avail.
Next I tried to install it in safe mode, but this time, Setup.exe started up, however, there was an error (#1607) to do with the ISSScript. I tried to re-install ISSScript, but it said that it doesn't work in safe mode.

I have tried everything I can think of to get this to work, so I am posting here, hoping someone can help me get this installed!

Thanks in advance.
Matt

Maddhatter: Thanks! I can't believe I didn't find that list before -- it turns out that it was to do with the 'clean boot' option. I had tried a clean boot before, but left one box ticked, when it shouldn't have been now. All is working fine now.

chrisalviola: Yes, I am running XP.

Regards,
Matt
