Default CD Hardware

I really have a problem. It was kinda werid. When I put dvd to watch movie on laptop. Well, the sound was acting werid, anyway. So, I take it out and watch it my room. But, next time when I insert my War Craft games... I noticed that E:/ or D:/ or whatever that have CD thingy in "My Computer" Is gone... which mean... My laptop is not recgonize any CD/DVD Hardware or anything like that! I need help... Thanks,

Check the IDE cables are correctly inserted into the Optical drive and the Motherboard.

Ur probably right. I may have to take to computer shop next week to check IDE because I never open the laptop case before yet. I used to be computer professinal, but only to Desktop, not laptop. Thanks I'll ask David about it.

By the way. How can I check the IDE Cable inside the laptop? I have Compaq Presario V2000 laptop. Thanks,

I would bet on the drive. The chance of it being a cable are about 10 billion to one.

10 billion to one? if the cable is mislodged then the drive wont show in my computer.

You ever tried to dislodge a cable in a laptop even with opening it up? Obviously not. Even in theory it doesn't make any sense, never mind practice.
