Default external hard drives

If you where to look for a good quality external hard drive to store about 300 gigabytes on it. Which one would you buy? There is so many out there. I really don’t know what to choose. Thanks

Personally I would buy and internal disk and place it in a "IDE to USB" case to use it as external.

Sometimes you can find cheap external drives, sometimes it's cheaper to get the external enclosure and a hard drive separately... Personally, I'd probably do the same as Starcab and just get my own enclosure and HD... You just have to make sure it's IDE(PATA) and not SATA. As for brands, I'm pretty loyal to Western Digital. Newer Seagates have given me problems, and Maxtor...NEVER AGAIN! Some people have spoken highly about some of the Samsung drives, and they are apparently quite fast, too...

if you have to get an external hard drive i would get a Mybook from WD, but if you do get the best one, it comes with firewire 400, 800 and usb 2.0. it also has a gauge to tell you how much more room you have and it shut it self down when not being use which really extends the life of you HDD


i would get an external enclosure and a HDD and put it together myself. if you do get a HDD case look at getting one with all the feature you can
