Angry Installed wlan usb adapter 8 times

im getting very angry at the moment - i just want sum help

I have just installed a new router - which meant that my (very)old usb wlan adapter did not work - obviously we're dealing wiv computer equipment here!

Well, so to find outr if it really was the adapter i tried my dad's belkin wireless G usb adapter in my comp, that worked - however i had to install the belkin software as they obviously dont supply the drivers in a folder on the CD...

So all was well and i went to PC World to get myself a new USB wlan adapter... I found the same on - different packaging but the same one...

I take it home expecting that it would work staright away... I was unpleasantly surprised...

The newer one required another driver... so i uninstall the old software - install the new one, but NO! That did not solve the problem...

I went to the device manager and uninstalled the adapter, reinstalled it without the software (cos the new drivers were available on that CD)

But to no avail...

I went to the website, repeated the installation process but still the same error... --> The name is already in use as either a service name or a service display name.

Geezus i was thinking at this moment! well i finally came over here cos i rly need the help

Also - in device manager the device is called sumfin like "Belkin USB Wireless G Adapter #8"

I tried to uninstall the device again but this time it says that the device may be needed to boot up the PC so therefore it cannot uninstall the device....

PLZ PLZ PLZ Help

Tnx!

Sry for the long post...

When you were using your fathers adapter did anything mysteriously stop working? You may have a conflicting I/O address, IRQ, memory address range...etc....
