Default Laptop sound/sd card/infrared issues fixable??

Hi guys

Looking at buying a laptop with a couple of faults. There is no sound, and as a result the sd card and infra red dont work as well. What i would like to know is whether these faults are fixable at a reasonable price? or are we talking several hundreds? or not even fixable? Issues with hardware, not software and the sound works when external speakers are plugged in.

Forgive my noobiness lol.

Ta in advance =D

How do the sound, IR and SD card reader have anything in common? If they something's seriously wrong if they all don't work. So external speakers work? It could be an amp problem for the internal speakers...

How new is this laptop? Unless it's brand new and going for next to nothing, I seriously doubt it's worth the repairs.

Toshiba tecra 9100. Bout $250 US for a refurbished model. Apparently several of them all have the same fault which affects the sd slot, infra red and sound. If they can be fixed by replacing parts it would be ok. Any info would be appreciated.

Hmm...that's not too bad I guess... I doubt you can fix the speakers, but I bet it's just driver problems with the rest.
