Default new sound card, only some plugs work

hey, i jsut installed a soundblaster live 24 bit, and the only plugs that work on the computer now are the ones that are on the card itself. any ideas? whats wrong?

have you disabled onboard sound in the bios?

thats what the card does, it takes over the onboard...

Not always. I'm not saying the ports on the onboard would give you audio from the sound card, but many onboards will continue working unless you disable them. I know dad's computer still has two sound cards going on it. I don't know why he hasn't disabled his onboard
