not to make a bad point, but for each dot to see every other dot individually... its 56, look at the second pic, it makes sense.

But the second pic hasn't got 56 lines

well.. count em, I bet its 28 lines

if you count the ammount of lines at each dot, youre going to count a lot of lines twice

Ha, I did something like this in math class just the other week. There is acctualy a formula. I see your trying to find the total number of edges. So the formula is,

n(n-1)/2

n=number of points in the 'gon'
n=8
8(8-1)/2
8(7)/2
56(you where partialy right )/2
28

Now a real question, how many of them are just diagonals?
