Default Acer Power Up problem

We have an Acer 8000 PII that functions as a small office "server" in a LAN. It has an IDE and 3 SCSI drivess installed and running well around the clock for 8 years now. It gets power via an APC UPS 1500. Monday morning we came to work and found the unit shut down and that the house breaker had tripped. We tried to start the Acer, but got green lights for a second and then it went back to one yellow stand by light. In that brief second or so the cooling fan would spin. The tech came yesterday and disconnected one of the SCSI's and the unit fired up and ran well, but the data off that SCSI is critical. Once it was up, he then plugged in the SCSI and the unit is running perfectly again, though we think it is a bit noisier.

Questions:
1. Anyone got an idea what may have happened here?
2. We are pretty tied to this computer's fit with our DOS based accounting system (runs flawlessly!) and older network cards, cabling etc. Can we refirb this machine with new hard drives and maybe some other "fragile" parts or can we build a new identical machine from scratch, i.e. are parts still around? It is an ACER Power 8000 PII 350 minitower with the drives as noted above. Windows NT 4.0 system

Thanks for any ideas folks!

Just ghost the data onto new harddrives. Then you should be able to replace at least the drives. It's a little more work, but if you're crafty you'll also be able to replace the mainboard without much fuss. Same goes with the CPU, RAM and PSU.

It can be done. It will just require some patience.
