Depends on your usage.

The iPod Nano is very slim, simple and great looking. I have one myself, and I love it.

The Zune has more features, a bigger screen and more space. It also offers video playback and an FM radio (I think).

I would personally go for the Nano.

You can get a Zen Vision: M for $200 dollars now, and its got more video format capabilities than the Zune or iPod Video. As far as I can tell, the Zune only has a slightly bigger screen, otherwise the Vision: M has it beat. (The Zune has wi-fi, but only for player-to-player, not player-to-computer. Not a big feature if you ask me)

For an 8 gig, I'd look at the Zen MicroPhoto.

The 8GB is more expensive than the 30GB because 8GB of flash memory is more expensive than a 30GB hard drive. Many use flash because it is uses smaller chips(= smaller MP3 player) and is more reliable.

I have a nano now and I love it. It's great for people who dont need to watch movies, and just want a good music player. Plus it's very small(cant even feel it in my pocket!), has great sound quality, and I love the clickwheel. But keep in mind the 30GB iPod is the same price as the 8GB nano.

This is what I have. I really don't like Sony's software and how you HAVE to use it to transfer songs over to the device... Otherwise, it's really nice. Battery life is good and it's very small(About the same size as your average USB flash drive). Mine(and I'm pretty sure that one too) have FM radios in them too.

Oh, and it works just like a USB flash drive, if you're wondering. You just have to use the software for the music.

what the hell is a microsoft zune?

i dont like iPods personally, i had a 20gig one for a year and it broke countless times. i currently have a Song Walkman 8gb and i love it! the only problem i have had with it was i accidentally wiped all the songs, but that was my own fault i pulled it out of the pc before it was ready

i have heard that Creative Zen's are very reliable, i have never heard of the microsoft thingy so i cant say anything about that.

but i would definately reccommend a Zen or Walkman

the zune is microsoft's mp3 player. i heard it's really not that great and it's not even compatible with vista, also a microsoft product. maybe there is or will be a fix for that though.

i'm constantly breaking mp3 players. i've went through about 4 this year. the last one saw it's end when i crushed it moving the power seat back in my car.

so, yeah, i buy the cheap ones now adays. maybe i should start buying lots, lol.
