Default Wont connect to router

i just got a new computer.(coustom made) and i cant hook it up witht the internet. ive plugged in the ethernet cable and it dosnt reconize it. what is wrong? is it a driver problem?

Do you see a network connection under the "Network Connections" page in Windows?

Are the network drivers even loaded?

If you can see the network icon in the Network Connections page, and if it shows your connected, then you're on the router (most likely). If it says unplugged, then its either disconnected or the router/pc isnt configured properly.
