Default AVI sound on TV?

Hey er, which brainer decided that my TV should display the video only via S-Video to my laptop while the sound squeals from laptop like a 70's radio holed up inside a resonating box? How do I get past this problem to have the sound actually come from my TV instead of my laptop? Is a standard audio receiver able to input PC sound from "headphone" type double male heads cable?

if your tv has right/left audio channels input, you need a cable that on one end is "headphone" type double male heads and on another end splits into right and left male plugs. something like this:
