High Temp?

In my SpeedFan. I am getting a reading of 65C on TEMP2. What is temp2?

I had my comp turned off for 15 min to let it cool down and it is now 55C.

Is it bad?

If it's your CPU then it's high and you need to get a better HSF or work on the case's airflow. I haven't used SpeedFan in a while so I don't know if it shows you your GPU temp. If it is your GPU temp then it's nothing to worry about since the GPU usually runs warmer than the CPU and usually goes up to 80°C+ when playing games and it's no problem...but it's probably your CPU...

Temp #2 is usually the board's own temp reading with the cpu being seen as the #1 temp. That's the one drawback with SpeedFan where it doesn't specify which temp is what. If your board has a hardware monitor in the system bios you can go there to compare the temps to see if that is a software error and not the actual.

55C for a board temp is rather warm and close the automatic shutdown temp seen with overheat protection circuits on most newer boards. At the time of this post the temps seen with SpeedFan here are cpu=32C - board=34C. When a good load is thrown on the cpu temp will naturally climb up 37-38C gaming and 42-43C running multimedia for a lengthy period.

The only thing that I could find from my borad was I-cool for cpu fan noise and energy consumption.

Temp1: 30C
Temp2: 56C
Temp3: -2C
HDD: 37C
GPU Temp (measured via Nvidia software): 45C

I have a back exaust 120MM, side 80MM, front 120MM and the Retail CPU Heatsink/fan. The air coming out from back feels... COLD. i have it next to a window right now and cold air is coming in.

*If it is the CPU.... could it be because when I installed it I accidentaly touched the bottom of the copper (where the .... gooey....Thermal Paste) was??????

your 55C after boot is not good, mines just 45C, temp2 i think is the motherboard

65C first mentioned is certainly "excessive" like something is already cooking. The stock crap on a cpu's hsf is never that great. But you are looking at the chipset getting hot to see that high of a temp there. The cpu itself showed 30C while the board is seeing 55-65C?

Have you noticed any problems like system locks or unexpected restarts? If you compare the bios readings with SpeedFan's that can help to see if you are seeing an inaccurate software reading for some reason.

No I havent had any restarts or anything. But now Im really worried my temp got to 88C while playing a game. I wanted to see the temp on the card. 88C

How can I compare BIOS readings?

Ill try it in a sec and report back. JEEZ 88C it went back down to 57C right now.

EDIT: MY CPU TEMP ON PC Wizard is 61C. Should I turn off my comp and just wait till tommorrow to go buy a new HEATSINK..????
