Default Please Help / New System / Need Advise

Hello World.

This is my first gaming system for Canada.

This is what I found so far:

ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe ATX AM2 Nforce 590 SLI 2PCI-E16 1PCI-E4 1PCI-E1 2PCI SATA2 1394 Motherboard
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...nufacture=ASUS
$254.22 CAD

------------------------------

AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Socket AM2 Orleans 2.4GHZ 512KB 90NM 62W Retail Box
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...anufacture=AMD
$135.70 CAD

-------------------------------

Ultra / X-Finity / 600-Watt / ATX / Dual 80mm Fan / SATA-Ready / SLI Ready / Black / Power Supply
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...273341&CatId=0
$101.99 CAD

------------------------------------

Antec Nine Hundred Mid Tower Gamer Case 900 ATX 9 Drive Bay No PS Top USB2.0 1394 Audio
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...ufacture=ANTEC
$133.23 CAD
OR
Antec P180 ATX Advanced Mid Tower Aluminum Case 4X5.25 1X3.5 6X3.5INT No PS W/ USB & Audio Ports
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...ufacture=ANTEC
$161.00 CAD - in the combo with HD (the one below) - $149.98 CAD
OR
I might get one for around $60, because of the budget… I’d like to spend around 1000 CAD in total. If you have any advice on the cheaper cases, with fine cooling for my system, please advice.

------------------------------------

Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB SATA2 3GB/S 7200RPM 16MB Cache NCQ Hard Drive
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...acture=Seagate
$129.40 CAD - in the combo with the case (the one above) - $119.27 CAD

this is my old HD, if it will work with a new system, then maybe i will not buy new one

------------------------------------

I need advice on RAM and Video Card, I want to buy a 1 Gig now and add another later; also I have my old ram, not sure if it'll work

------------------------------------

As for the Video Card, I’d like to get something that I can play all new games with medium-high settings at 1280x1024 (my LCD won’t support more I think).
I want to get one so later I can add another better one (old and ne together - SLI it's called, i think =)). Also I will be upgrading my CPU to dual AMD

Do I need a CPU Heatsink?

What else do I need (not thinking about burners yet)?
Will this system perform well?
Is it Future Proof?

Thanks.

spend less on a mobo and get a Core 2 Duo system

find a better PSU, ultra isn't that great, try to get a OCZ, Antec, or any other major PSU brand

the cases are nice, but the 900 can get a little loud

you will most likely want or need a new HDD, but I'm not sure

your ram will most likely not work, probably isn't 240 pin like most new mobos take now

as for a GPU you might want to look into a 7900GT/GS or a 7600GT. the 7900GT/GS should play most games at 1280x1024 at mid/high setting

the system you have now isn't going to be that future proof but most systems aren't totally future proof. with a C2D system it should last a pretty long time

good luck and happy building

edit: if you buy the CPU retail it will come with a heatsink, if you buy oem it will not

it is a pretty good build, i suggest you get Core 2 Duo, it is way better than the AMD X2 4200+ by a mile.

Avoid, Ultra PSU, not as good as you think, go Antec or Thermaltake may be better, if you have that money, Even go Scythe, PC Power & Cooling or OCZ
