Recently i have been having problems with my computer just restartiing itslef, sometimes restarting but nothing coming up on the screen. This happens much more often during video game play. I have been looking at everyhting else, even reformatting, until tonight i notice my rear fan on the power supply is no longer turning. The one on the bottom works still however. Its a turbolink brand ps. 420 watt. Its over 5 years old. Im running a amd athlon xp 2000 processor, 1 gb ram, 40 gig hard drive, shuttle ak 31 mobo, windows xp home with sp2 and all current updates. geforce 5700 ultra video card, and a sb audigy platinum ex sound card. all other case fans and cpu fan working great, chipset fan just replaced after making noise.

Yes, that's a very common power supply problem. Not 100%, but probably is. If it's 5 years old, it could just be giving out. A 20pin or a 20+4(meaning the +4 pins are removable...) would work just fine. However, that old one sound cheap. Don't just get any ol' cheapo, high wattage PSU. You'd be better off to get a high quality 450watt. Look into the amps on the 12v lines. I'd go for about 20amps or so total. If you purchase off Newegg, they have this either posted in the specs or in the photos.
