Right now the best is Intel's Core 2 Duo (C2D).

Yup, the Core 2 Duo is the best out, even for gaming. However several months ago before they had the C2D, AMD was the gamers choice for years.

I actually reccommend AM2 x2 for gaming, and intel for buisness and servers

AM2 is cheaper and consumes a lot less power than Intel

you may think that the numbers say a lot like 2.5Ghz, but you wont know exactly what the difference is until you try them side by side

(But AM2 dual core and Intel core 2 duo right now are very similar speed, but AM2 is cheaper, and comsumes less power)

AM2 X2 CPUs have a TDP of either 65W or 89W depending on the CPU (with one exception), whereas all Core 2 Duos, except the Extreme have a TDP of 65W.
