Exclamation Power supply not making contact?

Hello,
My girlfriends computer has been acting real weird. This is a new one for me and ive built 4 of my own pcs. When going to turn it on it will not boot up. The motherboard power light is on which tells me i have power to the MB. Any reason why pushing the startup button does absolutely nothing. I have yet to run into this problem and require help if possible. Its a 2 year old gateway with a gig of ram running windows xp. Thats really all i know. Its a micro atx board. what could be the problem here?
Thanx in advance

The port that connects the motherboard to the power botton, the reset botton and/or any other botton on your tower is either burnt out or shorted.

tug on the thin wires that are connected straight into the pwer botton inside the case, to the actual port on the mb and try wiggling them around a bit. take it out, and pop it back in.

if that doesnt work, then either take it to the china man and hopfully he can fix it or buy a new mother board.
