Are you seeing the "about blank" in the address bar? By other browsers that would be FireFox, Opera, Netscape most likely there. With IE 6 you could be suffering from the "about blank" virus there that specifically goes after IE. With either IE 6 or 7 your security being set too high like all the way up would probably cause problems as well. Removal instructions for the about blank virus are found at http://www.akadia.com/services/about_blank_virus.html

That's basically a tool for removing the type of crap browser hijacker/malware that can hit IE there as well. If lowered security settings and the methods at these links fail you may be having trouble with IE itself. Lately with IE 7 I suddenly can't see the images stored for posting jpgs here on the forum.
I have to suspect the newer antiphishing filter or Trend Micro's PC-cillin as the actual cause there. That will see the IE can't display page message constantly. Look over the antivirus or spyware removers you are running there to see if that is the source. But I've been hit once or twice with the about blank and a few other hijackers at times. Otherwise a removal and fresh installation of the version of IS you are running should see this corrected. |
