Ok guys, i need your help kinda quick-ish.
The mobo linked below is the new eVGA 680i... i love the board and want it in my new build. Thing is i can't jsutify paying £210 on just the board. At this point in time, on an offer thats about to run out, its down to just £185 ish.... im in a dilemma, do i buy it quickly now in the sale and set it aside for when i build in february-ish time.... or do i wait unitl february when the price may have dropped to below £185 anyway...? Opinions, suggestions? All wecome http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=MB-000-EA dragon

I would wait, because I would think it would be lower by February, 2ish months is a rather long time for hardware staying the same price.

Well I have that mobo and i absolutely love it. The Gigabyte 965 is a great mobo, but you need to consider how future-proof it will be. The 680i has 3x PCI-E x16 slots, SLI, supports quad core and 1333FSB, and lots more. Thats the main reason I went with it.
Oh ya, and it's also great for overclocking.

Oh ya, just a note. Some people said that they had issues with SATA drives, but I never had a problem. eVGA also released a BIOS update on 12/21 which says that they fixed the SATA and RAID problems that a few people have.

And seeing as you have it already.... Any bad points? Little niggles that are jsut annoying? I'm mainly getting it for overlcokcing my e6600, im only planning on getting a single 7900GTO but about 5-6 months down the line when i have the cash i will be getting a second and SLI'ing them. I firgured this would be one of the best boards to do that with.... dragon

In my opinion, it's the best board there is, but there are a few slight cons about it. One being that the front panel headers are in a bad place (between the RAM slots and IDE port). I really cant think of anything else thats bad about it.

I think i will wait... though, i have about 2 months (Febrauary) to get just over £600.... can it be done? who knows.... Ive got about £500 sitting in my account, its a bit low due to christmas. I owe about £150 to people, thats £350 left, then i have to get to work and have lunch and stuff every weekend, and eat everyday at school, gah, why do things cost money, it sucks. Total cost for this rig is (at the moment) around £810 dragon

What parts are you planning to get for your new build? (Besides the 680i and C2D?)

MSI 7900GTO (changed to two of them in SLi after a few months)
1Gb (2 x 512Mb Dual Channel) DDR2 800 - (The Corsair XMS2-6400 stuff) Hiper 530w Type-R Modular PSU (12v1 @20A - 12v2 @17A) Im thinking of changing this to a better model, especially when i get SLi Seagate 160Gb SATAII (small capacity, mainly because i don't use that much and it can be easily upgraded later) And then obviously the core 2 duo e6600 and the evga 680i board Thats about it, plus a few cables and fans and stuff, feel free to offer alternatives and suggestions. I'm open to pretty much anythign, but it does have to be intel, and it does have to be nVidia, lol, sorry. dragon *EDIT* - ok, i updated my quote on ebuyer, and everything EXCEPT the mobo comes to £667, that includes shipping and VAT, basically i dont want to stray too far away from the £800 mark as a grand total... So for the motherboard i wanna be spending about £140 minimum up to about £180 max, should be do-able by february methinks....

Since you said you're not going to buy this for a few months, are you sure you dont want to get a DX10 video card instead?
