I think the system will not be able to support games that the 8800 is able to run, so it is pointless in getting the expensive graphics card.

That would be incredibly stupid.

The CPU wont be anywhere near powerful enough to compliment the video card, and 512MB of RAM is also extremely low if you want to play the newer games.

I seriously hope you werent thinking about buying that.

ahaha do you have any idea how much bottlenecking you'll get?

Hmm let's see, especially the cpu with a sempron, and only 512mb of ram (oh btw just buying one 512 stick would be cheaper ).

You better be joking...

Try to fire up a game such as FEAR, Oblivion, Dark Messiah, GRAW, any of those current games, and I guarantee you will have low fps on maxed settings.

Even with my oc'd C2D and 8800GTS, FEAR was running around 40-80fps maxed out.

I used to have a P4 2.2 and an x850XT PE. It was so bottlenecked, that I got the same framerates when I had the graphics quality maxed out, or when it was on lowest.

So you have a Sempron 2800+ oc'd from what, 1.6Ghz, all the way to 2.5Ghz? I highly doubt that, and if it's true, the CPU is still a severe bottleneck on that system. Upgrade to a C2D and you should double the framerates in games.

of course i lied about all that, but it is possible to have what I said,
and 2.5 GHZ stable, is reachable, its not that bad of a CPU

so what would your guess off framerates be with:

Sempron 2800 @ 2.5 Ghz
2 GB DDR 400 OCZ
8800 GTS

your best estimate? just thinking, you know...
