2 questions about my laptop

I just got a linksys wireless router and I am finally hooked up to the internet at my aunts house, I am computer literate, however I had to wind up calling linksys support cause they woulndt accept my key because of my auntgs serive providor and I was on the phone with him for 45 minutes, mainly cause I could not understand him ,

however, Im good to go , my quesitions are

1. How far can I take my laptop from my aunts house and still be able to connect through her internet , I have a friend that lives on the other side of town about a mile, is that too far?

2. I download alot of high defintion movie trailers, is there any High defintion video cards that will display 1980 x 1080p resolution

thats wayy 2 far...

a wireless card only goes about 400yds..

and u cant change laptop video cards in most laptops...

you can add a signal booster, or another access point and also buy a MAXRANGE wifi card.
