My computer constantly restarts...how can I save it?
About one week ago, my computer recieved a virus, a backdoor one. I was on the computer at the time, and my computer said on the bottom right, "Your computer is infected!". So I'm getting ready to run adware and the computer restarts by itself. It then just continued to restart over and over again, not even making it past the log-on screen. So I finally ended up starting it up in safe mode, ran adaware, and found and deleted a backdoor virus. The computer still didn't start in normal mode. I asked my boss at work (he is a computer genius) what I shoud do and he told me I could use a startup disk to repair the possibly damaged operating system. I didn't know where I could get a disk of the sort (I don't have mine...) so he lent me a windows xp startup disk. It was a different version than my media center edition but he said it should work. So I just got done using the repair feature of it and the system still won't start up. Additionally, it will not even start in safe mode now. Does anyone know anything that could help me out? Other things my boss said to do were: switch the RAM chips (i forget why), and make sure everything is connected properly inside. I know that system recovery is an option, but that is my last resort. Please let me know anything at all that you think will help or something i should try. If you've had this problem yourself, let me know what you did to get it fixed. Hopefully this thread can provide some useful information. Thanks!
