They could ask absolutely anything.
It could be about your skills and experience or they could give you various scenarios and ask what you would do. It could be a full on panel interview with written or verbals tests with 3+ people or a more relaxed 1 on 1 interview with no tests involved. Just be confident, dress well and arrive early! Don't forget to research the company as best you can, they ALWAYS ask what you know about the company. Good luck! |

I doubt it, well I've not come across any interviews like that anyway. Doesn't hurt to brush up on them though.
Depending what the job you are being interviewed for entails they may place various components in front of you and ask you to name the slots, chips etc and say what they do or they may give you a competency test like asking you to find out why a machine won't boot. I've had both of those types of interview. |

I'll try!
I had 6 IT interviews in 2006. Apart from one interview to date, they've started out by asking what I know of the company. They then give the company background in more detail and what their particular department deals with. Then they questioned me on my C.V. wanted me to expand on what I did in previous jobs, what responsibilities I had, what skills I have etc. and I have been asked what I would do in various scenarios. The 2 hardest questions are usually 1. Why do you want this job? 2. Where do you see yourself in x years time? As mentioned previously I was taken to a workbench and shown a PC that would not boot for 3 reasons, I had to find the 3 reasons and "fix" them. Obviously I was watched to see how I went about it and how long it took me. I was then questioned on what various parts of the pc were. In another interview I was given a motherboard and asked to name everything on the board and what it did. The majority of my interviews were done by 3 people, these are usually the manager of the department, the department director and one other director. In one instance I was interviewed by an employment agency rep on site to make sure I was suitable and then interviewed by 2 of the company managers. Out of the 6 interviews, only 2 of them asked to see proof of qualifications at the time and one took copies of my proof of ID. My last interview was different to all the rest in that they were not interested in what I have done previously or my current skills - They had all that on my CV anyway. The entire interview was based on scenarios given to me by each of the 3 interviewers. On average my interviews have lasted 1 hour each. I did have one 2 hour interview, however the first hour was made up of a computerised competency test and tour of the site. Don't worry if you are REALLY nervous, it's natural! The more interviews you have the more confident you become. If there's anything else you want to know then just ask me
