Hey all!
I got a Abit motherbord with an Athlon XP 1.3ghz CPU. 256mb DDR ram. Anyway i go to install windows XP, i boot from cd and it starts loading setup. When it says "Setup is stating windows" my pc's hard drive stops spining and the pc turns off. I got NO idea why it does this. I installed windows ME on the system and ME installed and ran fine. I even tryed upgradeing from ME to XP and it still turns off when i go to run the XP setup. IT does the same thing with windows 2000. Ill go to start the setup of windows 2000 and the system turns off. But windows 98 and windows ME seam to run fine. What is causeing this?

What sized power supply is being used on the system there? It sounds like the installation of either 2000 or XP is drawing more power at that time then the older dos/Fat32 oriented versions of Windows for some reason. Another thought is the bios needs an update and look to see if Plug'n'Play and OS 2 support is enabled there.
