Please Help:
I have a canon powershot s30 and I cannot get the camera to connect. I have uninstalled and re-installed the software and the wia driver twice and all I get is a beep when I connect the camera. I have tried to connect through the Canon software (zoombrowser) but it does not detect the camera. The installation CD said that the camera should be detected and that the on screen instructions would walk me through the rest of the set-up, well needless to say that this did not happen. Does anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong? Please help as I am a novice in this area. Thank you in advance, dnaldi Note: I am using a new laptop computer that is running on XP Media if it helps. Last edited by dnaldi; 12-31-2006 at 01:19 AM. Reason: Left something out |

Many cameras can connect using different methods... Be sure the camera is set to USB Mass Storage or something similar. That way, you shouldn't even need special software, it'll work like a USB flash drive or something...

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly but unfortunatley my camera does not have a setting similar to the one that you suggested. It seems that canon and Windows are not easily compatible. At this point I think that I am going to have to get a new camera.

I'll take the old one
![]() Hmm...I'm sure it works fine with windows... Very few cameras anymore don't have a "mass storage" mode. I know dad's new Fuji only works in pictbridge(or something like that) So you must use special software. An alternative is simply using a memory card reader, which is what I do. It's usally faster than using a cable for the camera, and no drivers are required.
