Default New CPU, works, but when I restart...

SO I just bought an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ (skt. 939) with my DFI LanParty NF4 SLI-DR. (originally had an A64 3500) When I first put it in, I cleared the cmos and it booted fine. Then, when I restarted, it won't boot. If I clear the CMOS again, it boots. I just left the bios settings at default for now, so the mobo should automatically tell that it's an X2. Any suggestions?

You might want to put your old chip back in and update to the newest bios. Maybe there is an issue with that chip with the bios you are currently using and you need to update it a newer one.

yea, you make sure its compatible with a64 dual core right? lol
its not always as simple as match the socket number to the processor pin count lol

Ok, I'll go poke around and try to find it. Thanks for the help!

DFI says it supports X2s, the last X2 bios update was in 6/23/05 so if your bios is older than that you could give it a try! When it boot does the bios see it as a X2 4400
