Default Laptop memory

Im looking at updating my memory on Dell D610, at moment its got 512mb and im wanting to take it upto 1024 and only having 1 slot on this machine wanted to no what i should be looking for brand wise etc.

the stick thats in now is 256-1RX16PC2-4200S-444-12-C3

go to the crucial website and run the system check, they will give you a list of memory models and how much they cost.

Hi

Ive found some memory im looking to maybe purchase that is 1gb DDR2 667 (pc2 5300-5400) 64x8 low density and i no that in the laptop it is DDR2 533 PC4200 RAM would this make a difference please.

Yes it would aslong as it can support it.

Make sure it is SODIMM and you chipset can support it.

Other than that it would be quite good in speed boosting.

The laptop is a dell latitude D610 if that helps at all and the memory is so-dimm

1GB DDR2 SODIMM PC5400 PC2 PC-5400 667Mhz 1 GB

Thats ok then It should work.

You have 2 slots, you could get 2x512 or have 1024mb and a 256mb that you currently have?

im just adding the 1024mb as i cant be bothered to take the keyboard out to get to the other 256mb
