Pretty much what everyone else said, i've had an AMD for about 1 and a half years and my brother had an equivilent pentium, but when playing games the AMD totally walked over it, but the pentium was far better for multi taskin (as everyone has said).

actually if it were between the 3200+ and that processor id say athlon 64 for gaming... but the two processors are fairly imbalanced. personally id go with an X2 of the lowest grade for AM2 and overclock it to like 2.8ghz.

nope, well what build of p4 are u getting because most p4's are 3.2 ghz, which people also misconsept about, thinking OMG 3.5 GHZ Woot, but really ghz is not everything to a cpu, Cache, Intructions per Clockcycle, etc... are what really matter. Please state the build of the P4 for further comparison.

Its what the first Athlon before the XP would have to be running at to get the same performance, Plain jane socket A Athlon would have to run at 3.8ghz. to reach the Athlon 64 3800 speed!
