Default Getting a new desktop HELP ME PLZ

This is posted in another section but it might get more replies here

Hey,
I might be getting a desktop from my uncle problem is he has 2 10 gig hard drives in it...... How do I format them ?? Also, should I reinstall windows on it?
If I format the new computer's hard drives will I love all the programs installed on it????

Also, I have all my stuff on another computer which my parents want to KEEP running and i'm not allowed to pull it apart......Which is the best way to transfer all my stuff? I have a 1 GB Memory stick....

Thanks,

Dylan_

When you format something you lose everything unless you have it back upped on another harddrive. And as for transfering... you can pretty much only just put stuff on the stick, transfer it, delete, get more. And after you format.... unless you dont want windows... yes you do have to install it.
