Default Upgreat Ram from 1gig to 2gig? Should I?

i have:
1gig duell channel (2x512 sticks) of Corsair DDR400 / PC3200 Ram in my computer.

CPU: AMD athlon 64 3500+

I can get hold of another 1gig of samsung ram (all in one stick -same specs) for nock down price of around £50, maby lower.

will spending this money on extra ram be worth it? Will it make much difference to the amount of ram i have in my computer already? will my current ram still work in duel channel if i do upgrade.? (i dont play games, just multi-task and do work. i also use video and media.

I wouldn't, with DDR being outdated. Wait until you can upgrade your processor, motherboard, and memory all at once, and go for either Socket AM2 or LGA775.

adding ram would be a cheap way to keep your system up and running and enable you to multi task better. Since you do not play games and only do office production and multimedia play back (i assume) adding more ram would help but not help all that much.

1gig of ram for what you are doing is fine. Do you rip/encode digital audio/video? Do any kind of graphic design work or 3D rendering?
