Program Affinity...

Whenever i attempt to change the program affinity for Warcraft 3 TFT i get an error message. It says like I dont have permission or something. Anyone know why?

thats is off the subject completely this is the CPU section, not the software section!!!! if there is a software section...

but anyways i would reinstall the program or get another copy. i had the same problem with red alert 2 but all of the sudden it would start loading normaly

nah not really, affinity has to deal with the cores, which in tern deals with the CPU so yes this would be on topic.

maybe :-P haha if my logic is right

that game is multi-threaded, which means it's been written to use multiple cores. (i think up to 7 or 8, with one ''main thread'' and the rest for the ''menial'' stuff). i'd let it just do it's thing instead of trying to set it manually.

if it was a single-threaded app, then you'd have no problems setting the affinity.

You also have to be running with administrator privlidges. I don't know what error it throws if it's already multithreaded, I've never tried as it's kind of silly
