Default My power supply broke

I recently built my own computer. While I was trying to install Windows the power supply popped and then smoked. It was a 300W power supply that some guy at CompUSA was capable. But now that I think about it, 300W isn't that much. So here are the specs:

p4 2.8ghz
ATX case
80 gb 7200 rpm western digital hd
9600 radeon video card
16x dvd 52x cdrw
floppy drive
case cooling fan

If 300W sounds too small tell me. Thanks.

There is an online power supply calculator: http://takaman.jp/D/?english
You can find there hints about what power supply would fit your system.

No. A 400w works fine. It is because I don't have too many fans and I don't have 2 rom drives.

A 400W PSU should be more than sufficient: the biggest consumers of your computer are the CPU, HSF and the video card followed by the harddrives and the optical drives (when they are in use). The chassis fans arent a big concern since they are typically under 0.5W.
