Can I use my desktop computer to access a laptop hard drive?

ummm.. with an adapter you can put it im your computer to access the files like a normal hard drive. if you don't want to open your computer you can use a external enclosure, now $5 plus shipping at tigerdirect

do a workgroup if you have a router then make a share or share the entire root drive of the laptop and grab/put what you want.

Can use this hard drive as a removable disc for storage? Or leave it connected for additional storage?

You can if you get a drive caddy that takes 2.5" drives and remove the drive from the laptop

It's a case that connects via usb or firewire. This is the newegg catagory:

Just be sure to pick the right size and interface type.
