Default 64 bit OS

Ok well I am a nub to OS and CPU's. I am buying the AMD X2 Dual Core 3800+ 2.0 GHz CPU. Will I HAVE to get a 64 bit OS or what? What OS will function 100% fine with my CPU?? Xp Pro?

It will run just fine on 2000-XP home,Pro,XP64 and vista. Gets a little flaky with 98-ME because of drivers!

Just as a confirmation, you don't need a 64-Bit OS, but you can use one if you want.

If your talking about XP Pro x64 vs XP Pro x86, then basically yes. There are so many driver and app issues with that OS, but when Vista finally makes the jump to 64Bit, you should start to notice an improvement.
