Default vista or x64 xp?

thoughts? i've heard vista is supposed to be awesome, buuuuut of course microsoft is going to say that, heh.

i love xp, how much faster does the x64 version run than the 32-bit version (obviously considering you have the necessary hardware)?

It's not worth it. Only certain programs work with it and people just tend to stay away from it because of compatibility issues.

I don't know how Vista 64bit will be, but XP x64 has tons of compatibility issues. Very few 32bit programs work flawlessly, and many 64bit very buggy.

Microsoft hoped that since the Athlon 64 was out a bunch of people would jump on XP64 but it never happened, hardware makers never really put much time in making good drivers for it or any at all!

Also with the 64Bit Pentium 4's and Pentium D's.

It just wasnt a good reason for people to upgrade, since there was nothing different about the OS besides 64 Bit support.
